Be sure that when it comes to completing the 2020 Census, you include everyone that lives at your address — and we do mean everyone!
Did you know if you have anybody living at your address, then they belong on your 2020 U.S. Census? And when we say everyone, we mean everyone! This could be your spouse, your children, your grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, or anyone else who — in any given year — spends the most amount of months out of a year at your address.
Even if you’re not their parent, or even if they could be your grandparent: if they live in your home, then they belong on the Census!
But you may be asking yourself, “Why is this so important?” We’re glad you asked!
The United States Census basically works as a snapshot of your home and the homes of everyone throughout the state and country! It all comes back to one of the ultimate goals of the United States Census: seeing how many and what kinds of people live in each and every state to help ensure they get proper federal funding! It helps us to better understand current trends in households and how we can better meet the demands of those households and determine funding for “federal nutrition and education programs, housing programs, and other social services that provide benefits to many U.S. communities”.
When the United States Census Bureau collects the census every 10 years to get an idea of the people living in our country, they want to be sure the count is as accurate as possible because everyone counts!
By having a better understanding of who’s in your home, we can better meet the needs of those who are in them. So, what’re you waiting for? It only takes 10 minutes to fill out the 2020 Mississippi Census online today at MSCensus2020.org!
